Vixen is a new Champion!

CH Darwyn’s Hold My Halo
” Vixen “

New Champion Darwyn’s Hold My Halo (aka. Vixen) is Darwyn’s 68th champion (and 49th Canadian, CKC, Champion)!

She received some points from winning Best of Breed (BOB) over other Welsh Terriers, in addition to being awarded 3 Group Placements from the classes!

Last summer as a junior puppy, Vixen entered the show ring to get some experience.  She competed on Vancouver Island against her sister Bette in one weekend of shows, where Bette won the points a couple of times and Vixen won the points once.  After that, here in Canada, we decided to let the girls get their points from the general show ring competition (and NOT each other).

Bette was first up and finished her championship in a couple of weekends with multiple group placements from the classes, as well as multiple Best Puppy in Show awards!

Last weekend, we decided to bring Vixen out to see what the judges thought (we already knew that we liked her).  In the first 2 weekends in 2026 of Canadian shows, Vixen added the points needed to become a champion!

Let’s see how the year progresses – we love both sisters.  Both have proven themselves to be quality Welsh Terriers based on the conformation show ring judges standards, and both are wonderful and enjoyable girls to live with.

Vixen and Bette’s litter brother, Nicholas, lives in Kenora Ontario with Darlene Literovich.  Darlene, known more for her Labradors now, used to breed and show Welsh Terriers.  Darlene’s late parents (Geraldine & George Taylor) were not only All-Breed Judges, but they were well-known for quality dogs they bred, including the Welsh Terrier breed.  I was happy to support Darlene’s goal of having another Welsh Terrier to show and live with — and it helps to keep the breed alive in Canada.  She works full-time, and based on where she lives, doesn’t have the same show opportunities that I do.  I am hopeful that the judges in her area see the breed quality in her boy – but we are all there to win, and there are only 4 placements at the group level … and Canada has many high quality dogs in so many of our terrier breeds across the country.

Their mom, Molly – American Grand Champion & Canadian Champion Darwyn’s Pretty in Pink, is expecting her second litter in about a month.

We are very proud of Vixen, Bette, Nicholas (and sister Misty who is loved very much in her companion home).

After a day at the dog show, Vixen is seen here hanging out with Michael and Larisa, snuggling and watching the flames of the nearby fireplace.

As stated by Pat Trotter, a Westminster Kennel Club Best in Show judge:

Not all pets are show dogs, but here, all show dogs are pets.
