Maddie’s All Breed Best in Shows & Reserve Best in Shows

In Maddie’s 1.5 years of showing, she was awarded 2 All-Breed Best in Shows, 9 Reserve Best in Shows and a Best in Specialty Show!

These wins were with Maddie’s core team – her breeder-owner-handler (Larisa Hotchin), as well as professionally presented by Jennifer Driessen, CPHA.

Maddie’s first big wins were during Canada’s largest indoor show weekends (Renaissance Dog Fanciers, which included 2 Terrier Group Specialties.  There were well over 100 quality terriers shown each day that weekend.  Maddie was awarded Reserve Best in Show (and Best Puppy in Show) by John Rowton (US), and a Terrier Group Specialty & Best Puppy in Specialty from Lynne Harwood (Australia).

Maddie’s first Best in Show was awarded by Murray Eason.  During that weekend, she won the terrier group at every show, and was awarded 2 Reserve Best in Shows, as well as the BIS.  These wins were all breeder-owner-handled.

Maddie’s Regular Group Placements at AKC shows

In Maddie’s very limited showing in the US, she was awarded multiple AKC (regular) group placements, including a Terrier Group 1st win.

Maddie was awarded her AKC title with 5 AKC majors.  Two majors from breed level competition, and three from group placements, including a Terrier Group First win!

These were all breeder-owner-handled with Larisa Hotchin (Darwyn).

Maddie’s Group Placements in Canada

* Presented professionally by Jennifer Driessen; CPHA; as well as her breeder, Larisa Hotchin *

Maddie turned heads in the show ring!  Three-quarters of the time that she won Best of Breed (BOB) she was awarded a Group Placement!

And, when she won the Terrier Group 1st, over one-third of the time, she was awarded one of the shows top honours of either Best in Show or Reserve Best in Show!

Maddie made her show ring debut in spring 2024 as a puppy and continued on until the end of 2025.  While she was presented sometimes by her breeder-owner, often she was shown beautifully by Jennifer Driessen, CPHA.

We are thankful to all of the judges for their awards and wonderful comments.

Maddie won Group 1st a few times in the AKC – NOHS groups, with her owner Larisa handling.  She also was awarded a few Terrier Bred-By Group 1st wins in competitive AKC Terrier Group Specialties.

Below are a few of the photos of the AKC-NOHS awards.

Photos of Maddie
GCH Darwyn’s Mad About You

Audrey was a wonderful mom to her pups, just as her mom, Zora was with her. Baby puppy time is always very special, and we hope you enjoy these adorable photos.

Please check out Maddie as a youngster, in the next tab “Puppy”, which is essentially after 10 weeks of age, and then having fun in the “Adolescent” tab.

As a young puppy, Maddie always caught my eye, and proved to be a sweet and fun girl to live with.

Hope you enjoy these photos and please check out the photos of her having fun as an “Adolescent” in the next tab over!

Maddie is a happy girl, full of life, and always ready to go.  She loves to play fetch, and give a High Five!  She is a very social dog – loves everyone that she meets, and doesn’t know a stranger.  She smiles when you look at her.

We enjoy living with her. We are very proud of her accomplishments in the show ring, but also as one of our Darwyn family, going on many vacations with us, playing on the beach, and often sleeping on our bed.

Maddie is a fun girl to show and loves being the center of attention.

She has primarily been shown by her breeder-owner (Larisa Hotchin) and Jennifer Driessen, however, on occasion she has been shown by others.  She has been awarded top honors with a few different people taking her lead (Larisa, Jennifer, Michelle, Terri and Willow).  Maddie has also done very well for the Junior Handlers that have presented her.

I love how friendly, comfortable, adaptable and willing to work with everyone that she meets.
